Story of an abandoned Female Labra

We are sad to report that, this is second time in the same week where a beautiful pure breed female Labrador has been left outside the SGACC shelter on a day with heavy rain.This story is very similar to the previous tale of the St. Barnard.

Few days ago this female Labrador was spotted by one of the working staff members outside SGACC in heavy rainy day without any sign of the owner.

6 -8 MONTHS FEMALE LABRA @ SGACC

She was spotted clueless outside the facility in search of her owner.

Such heartbreaking stories affect many dog and animal lovers and leave us distraught, making us once again pose the question of whether these voiceless creatures will ever get the life security and happiness that they deserve. The unfortunate scenario however is that there are presently no laws to control these kind of dog owners.

Every pet owner should be thoroughly verified and his track record should be traced with previous pets or animals in general.

Such insensitive humans should not be given with charge of others life.

ACID ATTACK SURVIVER

 SURVIVAL STORY 

ACID ATTACK VICTIM

On 4.08.2016 SGACC rescued a Jennet (female donkey) along with its child suffering from severe burn resulting from an acid attack. This time we bring to you A SURVIVAL STORY OF AN ANIMAL, WHO FOUGHT FOR ITS LIFE AFTER A MISCHIEVOUS ACID ATTACK.

Mother and child were rescued by sgacc volunteers on an information received from Shri Varun Chawla, Muzzafarnagar city in Uttar Pradesh. They were found with serious burnt back. 

Thanks to the undying spirit of SGACC volunteers the duo were brought to SGACC Shelter for immediate treatment and care.They were scared and petrified and kept making noises throughout the night of the treatment.

After treatment at SGACC

These species are no less than any other animal on this planet and we request our donors to sponsor their stay at SGACC for their entire life now. We require 5 kgs of Chara for their daily feed, 2-3 kg of carrots, medicinal charges of 500 per day. 

The mother and the baby are now recovering from their shocking incident at our shelter. This is their recent picture. It is truly commendable how the donkey has grown past this attack to be with its child :)

Story of an abandoned St Bernard

We may be creatures of intelligence superior to animals, but some people do things that make you question if they should in fact be termed as 'people' or not. In an act of shameful cruelty, a heartless owner left his dog out Of SGACC Shelter few days back.
 St. Bernard that was found abandoned near SGACC shelter. The insensitive owner had left the dog underfed and exhausted near the gates of SGACC shelter
Thankfully, one of the SGACC volunteer took notice of canine and immediately took the canine to shelter. Where he was fed and medicated. He is trained healthy house dog. And searching for
loving home.

RAISE YOUR VOICE FOR VOICELESS WITH SGACC

Humanitarian grounds

 versus

  legal provenance

Most debatable and talked about issues in India now a days is #no_more_50
  Well what is this and why are some part of society raising their voice.

 

Several Parliamentarians and celebrities launched the `No More 50' campaign in order to press for stronger animal rights law so that the culprits do not get away by merely paying Rs 50 for their unlawful action under the prevailing Act.

•  Let's revise some laws for animals 

  "The penalty in the PCA Act for killing, mutilating and maiming an animal has never been revised. Animal abusers have taken advantage of this feeble law and have continued to inflict insurmountable amount of cruelty on animals. Currently, the maximum penalty even for the most heinous form of animal abuse is a petty Rs 50,"

• Amendments in the Prevention of Cruelty against animals act 1960 

   Every day, we wake up to dreadful news of either an abuse or Killing of an animal. The whole nation is fuming. Recently, we were agitated by two back to back cases, First, where an innocent pup “bhadra” was thrown off the terrace by two psychotic medical students. Then, not even a month passed we saw another jittery video being surfaced on social media posted by inhumane culprits while burning 3 puppies alive in Hyderabad, shaming the whole humanity. The maximum no of animals abuse cases reported have been of dogs, so far. Yet, other animals have also faced assaults by humans.Shaktiman, a brave horse of Uttarakhand Police, who died of succumbing to injuries during the clash of a political party with police near Legislative assembly in Dehradun. Hence, the culprits get away with not even a punishment of slap on the wrist. The perpetrators are getting away by paying mere 50 rupees,  with not even a jail of 24 hours and there are several cases which even not managed to come on records.

  • Is only killing, dragging, torturing, slapping, smashing animals is crime against them?
  • What about seeing animals dying on roads and just walking away?
  •  What about pushing a stray to death because of hunger?
  •  What about your neighborhood tuffy which is being treated bad by his owners and you witness it daily but choose to keep mum?
  • What about the emergence of new Butchers shop in your locality?

    Here comes the humanitarian grounds when people choose to ignore instead of raising voice.
    With passage of time amendments to law have always took place and it will keep on happening but only if we raise our voice at correct time.
    Until unless we as human wouldn't raise our voice by stepping out of the box and moving towards natural justice no other justice system can step forward on its own.

  Come up and do your bit use the existing laws in a manner so that it keeps on exercising and doesn't get junked complain us we will guide you support you.
  
    We will give legal to medical help for these voiceless but please don't refuse to donate when volunteers ask for because sgacc complete runs with your support

   

  Majors to be taken

  When you see animal abuse or animal in trouble don't just ignore i,t step forward and take majors
  
  1. Complain to the local state SPCA (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)/Animal Welfare Organizations: working in your area, though as an entity an NGO can’t enforce the law, but they can put you in touch with an animal activist who deals in filing complaints and bringing attention to such matters with legal or media-based intervention.
  
  2.  Make complain:Complain to near by police or call
  On a national level, Police are the major enforcement body for the PCA Act 1960. They are obliged to take action against the offender and render help to the suffering animals as per the procedure outlined in the PCA Act .
  
  3. Know the law: for example a donkey should be loaded with only 35 kgs of weight at one time; the permissible loading capacity of a truck is 4 buffaloes or 40 sheep/goats. Anything over and above it is technically illegal under the law . I know  for every commoner it is not feasible to know laws but know the basic law that no police officer can refuse you to help in regard to animal abuse.
  
  4. Collect proofs : In your complaint, be as factual and precise of your observation of the animal crime. Give precise dates, times, locations and photographic evidence if any (while remembering to keep a photocopy with yourself).
  
  5. Stand up, speak up against injustice. Never give up, keep up the effort!
  The Indian Constitution, also, under Article 51 A (g) imposes upon every Indian Citizen a fundamental duty to have compassion for all living creatures

Rescued Horses having fun at SGACC!

SGACC collaborates with Brooke Foundation in June 2016 for Hoof Trimming 

SGACC collaborated with the renowned Equine animal welfare organization- BROOKE’S FOUNDATION for the trimming of the hoofs of our horses and donkeys in the Horse section. Fissure or extensions in a horse’s hoof wall is a concern for animals as it is painful and hoof cracks usually mean there’s some abnormal stress occurring. Ignoring little cracks can lead to bigger, more-worrisome cracks. A balanced hoof allows the horse to move better and puts less stress and strain on bones, tendons and ligaments. 

 

Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Center currently provides shelter to 12 rescued horses and mares along with 15 donkeys. All these animals have been rescued from the hands of their owners who failed to keep them healthy, provide food, and beat them up leaving them with serious injuries. Horses and donkeys at SGACC were treated for their cracked hoofs due to which they were unable to walk or stand properly for long hours.

Hoof cracks can occur due to:

•           Poor management,
•                 Poor nutrition,
•          Hard work over hard and rocky terrain, 
•           Poor conformation 
•           Old abscess or injury

We are happy to tell our readers that the Horses and Donkeys at SGACC are now able to walk properly with their cracks and extensions trimmed and cut.

•   By becoming our Donor:

As a private non-profit organization, the Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Center is entirely dependent on public donations to sustain its vital work. All contributions made to the Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Center are exempt from Income Tax under section 80 G of the Income Tax Act 1961. Donations both in Cash or Kind are accepted. Cash donations could be sent through Cheques or D.D. in favor of “Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Center”.

           For donation in kind:  we are asking our donors to provide food other than chara for the horse and donkeys. We promote them to donate 10kg bori’s of Bhusa, Churi, Gur, Channa, as only chara does not fulfill their nutritional needs. 

           We are also looking for 50 cemented sheets to cover the shed. Our current cement sheets are broken and need replacement on priority basis.
